Sandy
Cinema opened to the public on May 16, 2002. The 8 screen,19,000
square foot movie theater was developed by Prestige
Development,
designed by Tiland / Schmidt Architects,
and built by Loerke Construction
Group (LCG). The
project was built during the
fall and winter of 2001
and was completed
on time and under budget.
The
first run movie theater has 826 stadium style reclining seats. The theater features state
of the art picture and Dolby Digital Surround Sound. Other amenities
that the theater has to offer include a large lobby and concession area,
plenty of parking, and a clean inviting family atmosphere.
Sandy
Cinema is also dedicated to improving the greater Sandy community through
a number of causes. The most notable of these is the Super Student
Pass programs that provides free movie tickets for elementary and middle
school students that consistently turn their home work in on time.
Sandy Cinema also provides use of the theater building for teacher education
and police training.
